Marion - Charles Roy Chapman, age 79 of Marion, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Marion General Hospital.

Charles was born on April 6, 1942, to the late Frank and Annie (Hicks) Chapman in Hico, West Virginia. On April 28, 2007, he married Patricia Gates in Marion, Ohio.

Charles was a member of the National Rifle Association. For the last 17 years, he owned and operated Chappy's Hydraulics and really enjoyed working with his grandson, Corey. He worked hard so he could help others, in other words he was willing to give you the shirt off his back. Charles was loved by many because he never knew a stranger. From time to time, he could be a little stubborn. In the Spring and Summer, you could fine him spending time in his yard attending to his flowers and feeding his birds. Charles really loved spending time with his family. He will truly be missed by family and friends.

Charles was preceded in death by his parents; his former wife: Barbara Chapman; his brothers: Bacil Chapman, James Chapman, Jack Chapman and Darrel Chapman and his sisters: Sharon Truslow and Teresa Faye.

Those who will cherish his memories include his wife: Patricia Chapman of Marion, Ohio; his daughters: Rebecca Chapman of Marion, Ohio, Cindy Chapman of Peculiar, Minnesota, and Angela (Lem) Timmons of Marion, Ohio; his stepdaughter: Stacy Smith, of Marion, Ohio; his son: Michael Chapman of Carey, Ohio; his stepson: Shane Kitts of Marion, Ohio; his brother: Donald Chapman of Ansted, West Virginia; his sisters: Lucy Pondek, Severna Park, Maryland, Joan Tanner Victor, West Virginia, Nancy (Dick) Booth, Verona, Virginia and Betty Chapman, Staunton, Virginia; his many grandchildren and great children.

Friends and family may come to honor his life on Friday, February 11, 2022, from 11am to 1pm at the Boyd Funeral Home. A funeral service will start at 1pm at the funeral home with Pastor Chris Stewart officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Marion Cemetery. Donations may be given in his memory to the St. Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place Memphis, TN 38105 or call 1-800- 822-6344.
