DOKOS META LATCHES passed away on September 24 2001, in Lafayette at the age of 81. Beloved wife for over 60 years to Napoleon C. Dokos of Moraga. Beloved mother of Chris and Beulah Dokos, Chris and Rene Rores, and Louis and Candis Dokos. Beloved Grandmother of Kathie Dokos, Lissa and Gary Welch, Debi and Craig McCuin, Demetrios and Anna Dokos, Thomas and Rebecca Rores and Matthew and Michelle Dokos. Beloved Great Grandmother of Ashten and Morgan Welch. Beloved sister of Tula Marinakis and the late George Marinakis. Aunt of Lee and Peter Marinakis and Jody Jarvis and their families. Meta was born on February 5, 1920 in Salt Lake City, Utah to the late Louis and Irene Latches. She was raised in Salt Lake City and attended South High School; she was a graduate from the University of Utah with a degree in Business. Meta worked many jobs in her life; her favorite was working as a secretary with the State Dept. of Engineering. She was a member of the Greek Ort! ho! dox Cathedral of the Ascension, Maids of Athens and she was the first treasurer for the Memorial Fund of the Ascension Cathedral. She was avidly involved with her church and family, she taught Sunday school, sang in the choir and helped organize church and family parties and functions. One of her favorite pastimes was being a part of the Sewing Club Sisters (a group of life long friends). She was well known for her Greek Sesame Seed Cookies. Meta will be remembered as a caring and wonderful woman and was always there if needed by her family and others. Family and friends are invited to attend Funeral Services Friday, September 28, 2001 at 1:00 P.M. at the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension, 4700 Lincoln Ave., Oakland. Trisagion Services Thursday Sept. 27, 2001 at 6:30 PM at the Greer Family Mortuary, 2694 Blanding Ave.,Alameda. Visitation Thursday 2 PM - 8 PM at the mortuary chapel. Interment in the Greek Orthodox section of Mt. View Cemetery, Oakland. In lieu of flowers her family prefers that memorial contributions be made to the Cancer Foundation or the Memorial Fund of the Greek Orthodox Cathedral of the Ascension.
