A lifelong farmer, Wilburn had a love for growing crops as well as sugar cane. He loved making molasses, apple cider and tending to his garden. He also loved raising cattle, turkey, chickens and pigs. He had a passion for antique farming equipment and mills. Aside from farming, Wilburn worked at Energizer in Asheboro and retired after thirty-two and a half years as an A-line mechanic. He and his wife enjoyed traveling across America and internationally with their friends and family.

More than anything Wilburn had a love for the Lord and wanted everyone he met to choose Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior. His passion for evangelism led him to travel to Taiwan, the Philippines and Haiti in 1982 to help build churches and serve in other missionary projects. He was a faithful attendee of Rock Hill Friends Church and First Wesleyan of Robbins for many years.

A viewing for friends is scheduled for Saturday, February 12, 2022 from two o'clock until five o'clock in the evening. A celebration of his life will be held Sunday, February 13, 2022 at Rock Hill Friends Church at three o'clock in the afternoon. Visitation with the family will be held Sunday one hour prior to the service. Pastor David Roudabush will officiate the service with a graveside service following in the church cemetery.

The family would like to say a special thanks to the staff of First Health for their service and special care to our beloved husband, father, and grandfather.
