Susan Rawlings Snyder Parsons, 62, of Bishop, GA passed away Sunday, April 22, 2012.

A native of Sandersville, GA, Mrs. Parsons was the daughter of Isabel Gunnels Snyder of Sandersville, GA and the late George McClellan Snyder. She obtained her master's degree in Botanical Science from UGA. Mrs. Parsons was a personal garden designer, master gardener, and had been employed with various nurseries in the Athens, GA area. She was instrumental in starting the Oconee County Middle School vegetable garden and gave a yearly historical comparison of Old World vs. New World vegetables to the students. Mrs. Parsons attended Our Hope MCC and will be sorely missed by her friends and family, as well as the horticultural world.

Survivors in additions to her mother, include her husband, Jack Parsons of Bishop, and son, David Rawlings Parsons of Athens.

Memorial services will be held 6PM Saturday, May 5th in the chapel at Bernstein Funeral Home with Rev. Renee Dubose officiating. The family will receive friends from 4-6PM prior to the service.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in honor of Susan Snyder Parsons to the Athens Human Rights Festival, P.O. Box 1183, Athens, GA 30603 or to the Ahimsa House, P.O. Box 8181, Atlanta, GA 31106.
