From Flintoft Funeral Home website:

John Scott Edgar passed away in Redmond, Washington on April 1, 2021 at the age of 42, bringing peace to himself after suffering unbearable pain from acute anxiety and depression.

Scott was born on April 8, 1978 in Waukegan, Illinois, the son of Sandy and George Edgar. Growing up, he enjoyed building model planes and camping with his Grandpa Johnny. He moved to Bremerton, WA at the age of 10 with his mother, stepfather Bill Reicks, and older sister Courtney. He spent many years riding his bike around Bremerton with friends and getting his little brother, Matt, hooked on video games in the basement of their home on Aegean Blvd.

Scott moved across the water to Seattle to attend Seattle University where he studied Biochemistry. He worked in the student computer lab throughout college where he met many lifelong friends, and continued to work in IT upon graduation. Scott returned to school at the University of Washington where he earned his PhD in Chemistry while also building some of his closest friendships. Scott married Christie in 2004 while they were both attending graduate school. Their daughter, Madeline, was born in 2007 and they moved to Redmond in 2009. Scott spent nights writing his dissertation on a laptop with Madeline sleeping at his side. Isaac was born in 2011 during Scott's postdoctoral studies. Scott was elated to become a stay-at-home Dad for a couple of years. He attended Madeline's Kindergarten parties, planned playdates for the kids with other dads, and took Isaac to throw rocks on the Kirkland waterfront. In 2014, Scott returned to work as a scientist at the University of Washington's Mass Spectrometry lab where he was able to combine his chemistry knowledge with his innate talents in fixing things and his background in IT.

Scott enjoyed playing guitar, practicing Xingyi martial arts, debating politics, and researching electric cars. He was a devoted father, husband, brother, and friend. His kids were his passion and he was constantly doing fun activities with them like paddle boarding, rock climbing, biking, flying kites and drones, skateboarding, and driving remote control cars. He wanted to travel the world with his family and was happy to be able to take them to the UK and France in 2019. Scott was outgoing and funny, always initiating conversations with anyone and joking around. He may have found the most offensive jokes the funniest, but he was always a dedicated and kind friend. Scott was always willing to help out a friend, whether it be helping to build a deck, drive them to the airport, fix their computer, or officiate their wedding (he officiated four weddings for friends).

Due to Covid-19 restrictions, there will be no public service. You are invited to share thoughts, memories and photos on Scott's Tribute Wall on this page.

In lieu of flowers, his family would appreciate donations to causes of great importance to Scott. Scott strongly believed in everyone's right to basic needs like food and education.
