Mrs. Janice Irene Jones, age 72, passed from this life on Friday, February 4, 2022 at approximately 2:46 p.m. at her residence in Lima.
Janice was born on October 15, 1949 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to the union of Robert and Esther (Jefferson) Harris, Sr.; both parents preceded her death.
On February 14, 1969 she was united in holy matrimony to Mr. Richard A. Jones, he survives in Lima.
Mrs. Jones retired as a teacher in the Lima City Schools System. She was a member of the Sigma Mu Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. She was a member of the Ohio Association for Retired Teachers, President of L.E.A., State Director of the Ohio Education Association, Director, National Education Association and State Board of P.U.C.O.
Besides her loving husband Richard, she leaves to cherish her precious memory a son; Devon A. Jones (Blake) of Lima. 3 grandchildren; Taylor of Panama City Florida, Devon, II of Atlanta, GA and Morgyn of Cincinnati, OH. 5 great-grand-children; Majesty, Malachi, McKenna, Mesai and Armani. 3 brothers; Robert Harris (Sherri) of West Palm Beach, Florida. Jon Harris of Lima and David Harris of Columbus, OH. 3 sisters; Glenda Turner of Lima. Daisy Price (Felix) and Carol Finney both of Columbus, OH. A host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
She was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Richard Harris and Dennis Harris. A sister; Dorothy Underwood.
Home going services will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. at the Chapel of Jones-Clark Funeral Home, Inc. with Rev. Austin Lewis, Jr., officiating.
Visitation will be held on Friday, February 11, 2022 from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at 1:00 p.m. also at the Funeral Home.
Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc. Memorial Service will begin at 12:30 p.m.
Interment: Woodlawn Cemetery
