She was born on July 30, 1933, in Utica, the daughter of Robert C. and Gertrude (Mosher) Elthorp and graduated from Owen D. Young High School, Van Hornesville, NY.
At one time, she was married to Donald Edwards. In her early years, she worked at a shoe factory, in Newport, NY. Mary later owned and operated the Edwards Farm, in Norway, NY.
She was a member of the Cold Brook Methodist Church and its Cold Brook Methodist Believers and the AARP, Chapter #1410. She received the Presidents Volunteer Service Award.
Surviving family members include her daughters, Patricia Edwards and Sally Velardi; her sons, Paul Edwards and his wife Nancy and Daniel Edwards and his fiancée, Tina Petkovsek, of Norway, NY; her brother, Donald Elthorp and his wife, Carol; her sisters, Betty Jean White and Roberta Ann Holmes; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her father and mother, Robert and Gertrude Elthorp; brothers, George, Charles, Alfred, Richard "Dick" and William Elthorp; and her sister, Herriete Feldbrugge.
Graveside Service will be held at Exeter Center Cemetery.
