Barbara Jane Ransaw Woods "The Obituary" God had a Divine Assignment that was born to the union of the late James and Vella Ransaw. On December 2, 1948, who knew that this assignment would last 73 years, 21 days. While on her assignment, she married Billy Ray Woods and to this union three loving daughters were born: Phacethia Denise Posey, (Tyrone Sr.) Johnjalene Elaine Woods and Kyra Michelle Porter (Anthous).

Our Mother's assignment and her faith in God, led her at an early age to unite with The Antioch Missionary Baptist Church where she inflicted her Agape love of God to everyone she met. She wore several hats, just to name a few: Choir member, President of the choir, Kitchen helper, Sunday School Teacher, Finance Committee, Missionary Society and Secretary of the Church. She met no strangers, we've arrived home on occasions and was introduced to a new member to the family. She instilled in us that life could not be experienced or completed successfully without FAITH! Her faith in God was mesmerizing.

Our momma never allowed hardships and challenges to break her spirits, but rather use her obstacles as opportunities to be a woman of character to her family and community. Through it all, she remained true to God and her faith never wavered. She was a lifetime cheerleader for her children, grand children and great grandchildren. She loved, loved, loved FOOTBALL!!

Our mothers' assignment is NOT over, just a temporary pause! Everything she taught and instilled in us will be continued. She was preceded in death by her parents: James Ransaw and Vella McKenzie Ransaw, husband, Billy Ray Woods (BAM), daughter, Phacethia Denise Posey, sister, Jacquelyn Faye Ransaw and brother, Jerry Wade Ransaw. She leaves to continue her assignment two loving daughters, Johnjalene Elaine Woods and Kyra Michelle Porter (Anthous), sister, Cathie Ransaw Manora (Rufus), Dothan, AL, Vanderry Ransaw and daughter Keisha Cross, Tampa, FL. Grandsons: Navendra(Roxana)Woods, DeCarlos Finesse Middleton, Tyrone Posey Jr. (TJ) and Antonious (TJ) Porter. Great grandchildren: Malik Woods, Navarree Woods, Nina-Grace Woods, McKinley Porter, Great grands, Omari Xai Middleton and Gianna Posey. Momma had some bonus sons and daughters, Marcus Porter, Anthous Porter, Tyrone Posey, Sr. Bonus daughters: Nikita Sherer, Dr. Mona Davis, Dr. Beunica McDowell, Beatrice Hope, Demetrius English, Marchelle Huff, Nutosha Curry, Stephanie Cherry and Latasha Rowe. Special nieces and nephews, Shanga Harvey (Kody), Sophia Woods, Derrick Woods, Damian Steward (LaPorsha) and a special "thank you" to Nylisha(Barrett)Bufford for all the things you have done over and beyond, God can only repay you! A host of nieces, nephews, relatives, friends and all of her bonus children that she helped to steer in the positive direction. She had a special love for her graduating class of 1967 and we remember our grand momma talking about the class motto, that our mom submitted. "We are sailing the sea of ambition and will anchor at the harbor of success!" This is what our grandma used 20 years prior.

Funeral Services will be 12:00 noon, Friday, December 31,2021 at the Antioch Baptist Church Family Life Center Burial Lincoln Hill Memorial Park, Pastor Larry Weathers Officiating.
