Jose was working as trucker for American Poultry delivering poultry all over Texas when he decided that he wanted to become a barber. Jose met and married Lillie Perez June 22, 1958. He attended barber school in Austin, Texas and started cutting hair, at Fernando's Barber Shop for 10 years. In 1970 Jose and a cousin, Victor decided to open their own place to cut hair. They named their barber shop, Vic and Joe's Barber Shop. Jose donated his free time to cutting hair at The Texan and The Heights nursing homes for free. He was a member of the Sacred Catholic Church, Knights of Columbus #5090, Woodmen of The World, and the Saint John Paul II National Shrine.
He leaves behind his children, Sylvia, Michele and Lisa.
Preceded by his wife of 63 years, Lillie Perez Gomez and his parents.
Burial date- February 9, 2022.
