On the morning of January 29th, 2022, Kristin Bjorn Young (Kris) of Columbia, SC, died at the age of 51. Kris was born in Lynn, MA, to Wesley and Linda Bjorn in 1970. Her family relocated to South Carolina in 1981, and there it became home. She was a junior achiever and graduated with honors from Spring Valley High School in 1988. She then received her bachelor's in Mathematics and Statistics and a master's in Statistics (both with honors) from the University of South Carolina. In October 1998, she married Alex Young, and together they had two children, Mason and Mya. Shortly after marriage, they moved to Charlotte, and Kris worked for Bank of America for 20 years.

Kris loved anything by Jane Austen, shows based in the early 20th century (we often joked she was born at the wrong time), the Melting Pot, and anything purple. But most of all, she loved Pugs. Agent Jane (AJ) was her loyal pug sidekick. She also rescued a senior special needs pug, an MAPR alum, Penny, who passed away in 2021. Kris had an infectious smile, a bright spirit, and her joy cast a wide net that no one could resist.

Kris is preceded in death by her father, Wesley, and paternal and maternal grandparents. She is survived by her husband (Alex), her two children (Mason and Mya), her mother (Linda), her younger sisters (Kerry and her husband, Gene) and (Kim and her husband, Jason), as well as four nieces and nephews
