William Thomas Russell, 86, of Karnack, TX passed away on February 4, 2022 in Longview. He was born on July 7, 1935 in the Blackjack Community to Euel Clyde Russell and Stella Ree Deason Russell. William grew up in the country where he enjoyed working outside, hunting, especially bow hunting, sharing historical information from the local historical markers with his grandchildren, working with wood, and being a volunteer fire fighter for the Karnack Volunteer Fire Dept. He married Bobbie Jean Welch on January 28, 1956 in Marshall. He was a member of Karnack Baptist Church where he served as the Head Deacon, as well as enjoyed running the sound and picking out just the right music to play before services. William worked as a journeyman electrician for the Local 20 IBEW and served in the National Guard.
Mr. Russell is survived by his wife of 66 years, Bobbie Jean Russell of Karnack; daughters: Cindy Ferguson and her husband Larry of Garland, TX and Tina Barron and her husband Jimmy of Karnack; son: Donald Russell and his wife Lori of Ft. Walton Beach, FL; grandchildren: Stephen Francis and his wife Heather of Ft. Worth, Dominic Francis and his fiancé Brandi of Hurst, Kevin Barron and his fiancé Theresa of Euless, Travis Barron and his wife Lyndsey of Dallas, Jessica Palmer and her husband Jason of Montgomery, LA, Daniel Ferguson and his wife Mallory of Mesquite; great grandchildren: Reghan, Caden, Lera Lea, William, Sapphyre, and Jason; as well as a number of extended family members and friends. William is preceded in death by his parents; brother, Donald Russell; sister, Ethel Sue Smith; brother, Ronald Russell; brother, Alvin Russell; sister, Mary Humphrey and grandson, Luke Ferguson.
A celebration of William T. Russell's life will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, February 12, 2022, at the Travis Street Chapel of the Sullivan Funeral Home with Rev. J.B. Grant officiating. Burial will follow at Andrews Cemetery in Karnack. A time of visitation with his family will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Sullivan Funeral Home, Marshall, TX.
