Jose G. Flores Tijerina (AKA "Cruz Flores") 74, of Edinbrug, Texas passed away peacefully on February 4, 2022 at St Luke's Hospital in Twin Falls, Idaho surrounded by his loving daughters.
He was born on May 3, 1947, in Compuertas Tamulipas, Mexico. He is preceded in death by his wife of 52 years, Elvira Flores De La Rosa who recently passed away on November 25, 2021. Although he was never notified of her passing due to his health condition. We are sure he was happy to reunite with her once he reached heaven and she was happy to see her Pipiripau as she would call him.
If you knew our dad, you knew that he knew no strangers, and everyone was his dear friend. He was known, loved and respected by many. He had a very close and special bond with Bernardo Garza, whom he loved as a second son, brother and best friend. Bernardo held a very special spot in our dad's heart, and we know that Bernardo feels the same way about him. He also was a father figure to those who needed him. Always willing to lend a helping hand. The doors to his home and heart were always wide open.
Our dad was the best father, father-in-law, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend anyone could ever ask for. Notice how I didn't say husband. Well let's just say our mom put up with a lot to say the least because she truly loved him. He was a happy and fun-loving man. He loved to joke around, dance, sing and hear his loud music no matter what time of day. He would use his blindness as an excuse to wake up neighbors at two or three in the morning. In his defense he didn't know what time it was because he was blind, he would change his nights to days and days to nights. He lived his life to the fullest and didn't let his disability stand in his way. Our dad was the life of the party the one everyone wanted to be around because they loved hearing his stories some of which were true and some in which he would add a little lie or two. He was a funny man who loved life.
Before he lost his eyesight our dad was a migrant farm worker. Dad worked hard for many years as a farm hand in Buttonwillow, California driving tractors, cotton pickers, watering and tilling the fields. Later in life he became a farm labor contractor in Idaho. He led working crews out in fields picking rock, cleaning, hoeing and pull weeds on acres of sugar beets and bean fields. He was a hardworking man a leader who instilled in his children the importance of hard work and dedication. He never forgot where he came from and was proud to be of Mexican and Chinese descent. He enjoyed being surrounded by family and friends, spending time at McDonald's with his grandchildren when they were younger and by himself as he got older, he loved eating Chinese food at the buffets, going to the flea market "La Pulga" in Alamo, Texas to eat his favorite gorditas and listen to the live music, he enjoyed going to yard sales. He would sing and celebrate his birthday every day just so he could eat birthday cake. We are truly going to miss him answering the phone with a HELLO BABY or him singing happy birthday to you. We will love you always and forever, Papi Chulo!

A viewing will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 7 p.m., Monday, February 7, 2022 with Rosary starting at 7:00 p.m. at Farmer Funeral Chapel, 130 9th Ave North, Buhl, Idaho. A funeral mass will be celebrated at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church. 1701 Poplar St., Buhl, Idaho.
