Helen Maxine Hammond, 66, of 120 Water St., a sales representative for the J.L. Hudson Co., Detroit, Mich., until retiring, died Friday at home. She was the widow of Wilfred C. Hammond.
Born in Newport, she was a daughter of Cecilia (Drew) Borden of Portsmouth, and the late Maurice Borden.
Mrs. Hammond had also been an inspector at the Jai alai, Newport, for the Rhode Island Racing and Athletics Commission. She was a member of the Business and Professional Women's Club of South Lyon, Mich., and a past treasurer of the Glen Manor Committee.
Besides her mother she leaves a daughter, Cecilia C. Warren of Ida, Mich.; a son, Maurice W. Warren of Portsmouth, and two grandchildren.
The funeral will be held tomorrow at 9:30 a.m. from the Hambly Funeral Home, 30 Red Cross Ave., Newport, with a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Lucy's Church, West Main Road, Middletown.
