William "Bill" Charles Terry was born December 27, 1950 in Fort Sill, Oklahoma to Charles Alton and Bernice (Gibson) Terry. As a young child, Bill moved frequently due to his father's military career but considered Columbia, Missouri his home. He graduated with the class of 1969 from Eisenhower High School in Lawton, Oklahoma. Bill furthered his education with the University of Missouri and obtained his bachelor's degree.

Bill was united in marriage to the love of his life, Susan Diane Young, May 21, 1977 and shared together forty-four years of laughter and memories. Bill and Susan were blessed with two sons: William and Mark and one grandson: Will. Bill was a dedicated family man, his devotion to his family was evident to those around him. He took great pride in providing for his family and being there for them. Bill was a doting grandfather and treasured making memories with his grandson.

Bill's love of the outdoors and desire to serve others led him to his lifelong career as a Park Ranger with the National Park Service. Known to many as Ranger Bill, he was a great example of what a park ranger should be, he always had a positive attitude and great outlook on life. Bill patrolled the scenic rivers for thirty-four years before retiring. In his spare time, he enjoyed what nature provided and liked to go hunting and fishing

Bill had a big heart, warm smile, and booming laugh. He loved visiting with people and was always a good story to tell. His larger than life personality touched everyone that crossed his path. Bill was well respected, knowledgeable, and a true gentleman. His faith in God was evident in his concern for others and generous giving. Bill was a longtime member of Jadwin Church of Christ.

Bill departed this life February 5, 2022 surrounded by his loving family at his home in Jadwin, Missouri at the age of seventy-one years. He leaves behind to cherish his memory, loving wife Susan Terry; son: William Terry and wife Laurel of Nashville, TN; grandson: Will Terry; sister: Judi Schoonover and husband Dan of Columbia, MO; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and dear friends.

Preceding him in death, precious son: Mark Terry and his parents: Charles and Bernice Terry.

Bill leaves behind giant shoes to fill but left a wonderful path of footprints for those who loved him most. Bill was a gentle giant and his presence will be greatly missed.

Funeral Services for William "Bill" Charles Terry were held Friday, February 11, 2022 at the Jadwin Church of Christ with Glenn Claxton officiating. Special eulogies were shared by his sister, Judy and son, William. Congregational Music was led by Tom Fleener and special music was provided by Lisa Wulff. Serving as Pallbearers were Jacob Kettle, Clink Capps, Bryan Capps, Ian Young, JT Fleener, and Matt Fleener. Burial was in the Jadwin Cemetery. Arrangements were under the direction of Wilson Mortuary of Salem, Missouri.
