Peggy I. Goatley, 90, of Pana passed away Wednesday, February 2, 2022 in Heritage Health—Pana. She was born March 10, 1931 in Superior, WY to the late Alfred & Ruby (Rutherford) Alde. She married Wilbur C. Goatley on October 1, 1949. He preceded her in death on November 11, 2020.
Peggy was primarily a homemaker but spent a few years working at Pana Community Hospital, as a dietary aide. She was a very active member of United in Faith Church, Pana, where she served as Sunday School Superintendent for many years. She was a part of the Lady Landowners, delivered meals on wheels, served as an election official along side her husband and enjoyed being a part of their Pinochle Club. She also loved to travel and was able to see all 50 states. Most of all Peggy enjoyed being with her grandchildren, never missing a sporting event, dance recital, or school activity.
Peggy is survived by her children: Gail (Steve) Morrell, Pana, IL, David (Niki) Goatley, Pana, IL, Gary (Lisa) Goatley, Pana, IL, Keith Goatley, Pana, IL; grandchildren: Matthew (Laura) Morrell, Amanda (David) Lipe, Morgan (Joshua) Ritonya, Mike (Krissy) Campbell, Melissa (Sam) Bonney, Chelsea Goatley, Logan Goatley, Cameron Goatley, Tysen Goatley, Ezra Goatley; 10 great grandchildren; 2 great-great grandchild; and sister-in-law: Donna Klein, Pana. She was also preceded by her grandson, Benjamin "Ben" Goatley in 2011 and brother-in-law, Kenny Klein.
Funeral services for Peggy will be held Saturday, February 12, 2022 in United in Faith Church, Pana at 11:00 a.m. with Pastor Leon Goff officiating. Burial will be in Millersville Cemetery. Visitation will be on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of the service at the church.
Memorials in Peggy's honor may be made to United in Faith Church, 609 Fairgrounds Rd., Pana, IL 62557 or, American Cancer Society, 687 E. Linton, Springfield, IL 62703 and will be accepted by McCracken-Dean Funeral Home who is assisting the family.
