Joan Rose Bishop age 87 of Sturgis, Michigan passed away Friday evening February 4, 2022 at the Sturgis Hospital.
She was born January 24, 1935 in Constantine, Michigan daughter of the late Henry and Lottie Pitman.
Joan resided in the White Pigeon, Constantine and Sturgis area most of her life.
On July 1, 1976 she married Leroy Franklin Bishop in Sturgis. He preceded her in death February 1, 2014.
She had been employed by Owens-Illinois, Inc. in Constantine, in the kitchen of Fawn River Apartments in Sturgis, Three Rivers Glass in Three Rivers and for many years was a Avon Lady.
She and Leroy enjoyed square dancing and league bowling together and she loved her pets and feeding and watching birds, especially hummingbirds.
She is survived by her grandchildren: Vonda (Samuel) Glasscoe, Lucas Hostetler, Zachary Hostetler, Brandon Williamson, April Williamson and Matthew Williamson; great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by two sons: Daniel and Mark Williamson and sisters: Themla Pitman and Maxine Caldwell.
In accordance with her wishes cremation has taken place. A graveside committal will take place at Fort Custer National Cemetery in Augusta, Michigan, Thursday, Feb. 10th at 1:00 P.M.
The Hackman Family Funeral Homes of Sturgis is entrusted with the arrangements.
In honoring Joan's love for animals memorial donations would be appreciated to Hope for the Animals of SJC, 25420 Mintdale Rd., Sturgis, MI 49091.
