On a warm and beautiful day, Hubert S. Stewart was born to Haynie and Julia Stewart on August 23, 1936 in Nottoway County, Blackstone, VA. He received his early education in the Nottoway Public Schools. At an early age Hubert accepted Christ as his personal Savior and was baptized at the Mt. Gazerine Baptist Church in Blackstone, VA. He migrated to Philadelphia, PA and later moved to New York City. On June 24, 1962, Hubert was joined in Holy Matrimony to Ms. Fredia Foulkes at The Baptist House of Prayer.
Hubert was employed at the Burndy Plant for fifteen years. He became an active member of The Baptist House of Prayer. He loved his church and served until his health began to fail. During his illness he trusted in the Lord and kept a pleasant disposition until the end. In a quiet and peaceful manner, Hubert slept away at home. God called him to eternal rest on May 12, 1987 at 1P.M.
He leaves to cherish his memory: a sweet and devoted wife, Fredia; a loving mother, Julia Stewart; two brothers, Haynie and Clyde Stewart of Baltimore, MD; two sisters, Thelma Morris and Welther Hooks of Philadelphia, PA; one aunt, Fannie Seay of Mt. Vernon, NY; ten nieces, thirteen nephews; one God-daughter, Dorothea Rorie of Washington, DC; four God-sons: Glenn H. Herndon, Jr. of Mt.
