CAMDEN- A funeral service for George M. Stone, 73, will be held Tuesday at 11:00 a.m. at St. Paul United Methodist Church, 511 Knights Hill Road, Camden, S.C. The Rev. James Smith, Rev. Angela Marshall and Rev. Barbee Parsons will officiate. A graveside service in Evergreen Cemetery, Summerton, S.C. will follow Tuesday at 2:30 p.m. The family will receive friends Monday from 5-7 p.m. at Powers Funeral Home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church at 511 Knights Hill Road, Camden, S.C. 29020, St. John's United Methodist Church at PO Box 218, Lugoff, S.C. 29078 or Evergreen Cemetery at PO Box 366, Summerton, S.C. 29148.

Mr. Stone passed away Sunday, January 30, 2022. Born in Sumter, he was a son of the late George S. Stone and Ruth Rhame Stone. He was a public school teacher beginning his career in music and later transitioning to special education. As an accomplished musician, he served in the music ministry of several churches, starting as a young boy at Home Branch Baptist Church. Most recently he served over 20 years as church musician at St. Paul United Methodist Church where he was a member.

Surviving are his wife of 46 years, Sylvia Ardis Stone; sister, Deborah S. Alford (Mike) of Sumter; and 5 nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by a brother, Charles "Buck" Ingram.
