Nancy Scott Stewart was born to Lucille Stewart and P.C. Flowers on May 8, 1945 in Detroit, Michigan. She departed this life on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, in Ann Arbor, Michigan.

Nancy confessed her faith at an early age and was an active member of St. Regis Catholic Church in Bloomfield Hills, Michigan. She enjoyed reading, traveling the world and spending time with family, precious friends and loved ones. Nancy valued education. She acquired a Bachelor's degree in Math from Rosary College (Dominican University) in River Forest, Illinois, and as a Sloan Fellow, she completed a Master of Science in Management from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) in Cambridge, Massachusetts.

Nancy had an extraordinary career and was an accomplished Information Technology professional and pioneer. She was recognized throughout the industry for her development and management of large-systems operations. She began her career at IBM Corporation and retired as the first Black female Vice President. After retirement, she worked at General Motors Corporation as an Information Officer and concluded her career at Wal-Mart Stores, Inc. as Senior Vice President and Chief Technology Officer.

Nancy enjoyed reading and spending time with family, precious friends and loved ones. She was a woman who loved life and offered her support and assistance wherever she could and made it her life's work to help others. She was known by many as a loving and supportive caregiver who will never be forgotten.

Nancy was preceded in death by her parents, a sister and a daughter. She is survived by her son, Ronald Gregory Stewart, "guardian angels and caregivers", dear friend Granville Lee and his cousin Stratton Lee, III, her beloved cousins, Marc and Regina (Keywa) Brantley; nieces, nephews, cousins and others who were touched by her goodness and changed by her supportive strength.

Family will receive friends, Wednesday February 9, 2022, from 3:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. at A.J. Desmond & Sons (Vasu, Rodgers & Connell Chapel), 32515 Woodward Ave., Royal Oak, 48073. A scripture service will be held that evening at 6:30 P.M.

A funeral Mass, will be held Thursday February 10, 2022, at 11:00 A.M. at St. Regis Catholic Church, 3691 Lincoln Rd, Bloomfield Hills, 48301. Visitation begins at 10:30 A.M. The family kindly requests masks be worn while at the funeral home and church. Immediately following the service, Nancy will be laid to rest at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 25800 W. Ten Mile Rd, Southfield, MI, 48034.
