Dorothy Reason-Bailey, age 91, of Orlando, Florida passed away on Wednesday, January 12, 2022.

Dorothy was born November 29, 1930 to parents Mae and Earl Haney of Muncie, Indiana. She was the eldest of five children.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband of 56 years, Raymond Reason, Jr. and second husband (remarried at age 84) Harry Bailey ; children Michael Reason and Terry Reason; parents, Earl and Mae Haney, siblings Bill Haney, Tom Haney, Joan Patterson and Kay Patterson, son-in-law, Tommy Saunders and grandchildren Michael Reason, Jr., Kathleen Waters and Daniel Anderson.

Dorothy is survived by children Shelley Stuven (husband Rick), Randall Reason (wife Michelle), Marianne Amato (husband Dan), Tracy Reason-Kerkhoff (wife Debi), Kelly Cowart (husband Jeff), Debbie Reason (daughter in law) step-children Judith Bailey and Jennifer Knutsen (husband Torbjorn). She was blessed with 11 grandchildren: Jennifer Edwards, Cody Stuven, Amanda Saunders, Angie Saunders Sukkarieh, Daniel Amato Jr., Joseph Amato, Rebecca Reason Henderson, Stacy Fischer, Shelley Reason, Garett Reason-Kerkhoff, and Alison Reason, step-grandchildren Irene Knutsen and Peter Knutsen, as well as 14 great-grandchildren and 3 great- great-grandchildren.

Dorothy and Ray Reason married and started a family at a young age. Dorothy was a homemaker and Ray chose a career in the Army, retiring in Orlando Florida as Lt. Colonel in 1972. Having been a life-time resident of Muncie, Indiana, Dorothy embraced military life; the travel, history and life enrichment it afforded. Over the next 20+ years, she and Ray and 7 children moved on to a new and exciting destination every 2 years. A decade after Ray Reason passed, Dorothy and Colonel Harry Bailey (Retired) rekindled a 50 year family friendship and married on October 4, 2014.

Dorothy is described by her children and grandchildren as an "energizer bunny", a listener, and wise advisor. Dorothy cherished her children and grandchildren. She never knew a stranger and made friends all over the world. She could stand in a grocery line, speak to the person in front of her and come out of the store with the life history of a new found friend. She never forgot a birthday or anniversary and had an innate ability to make everyone she knew feel important and loved. Dorothy always faced the world head-on. After her last child was born, she attended college, taught English to young Turkish students and was a librarian in Iran. She was a faithful member of St. John Vianney Church, serving on the Bereavement Committee and Altar Linens Ministry. Dorothy was a selfless caregiver and a stellar model. She was not only a mother to her own children, but embraced dozens of others – whatever their need.

We will all miss our mother and Gma terribly, but accept the natural transition from this world to the great castles and golden streets in heaven where she will be under the care of the Almighty God.

Donations to the American Cancer Society or St. John Vianney are suggested In Lieu of flowers.
