MAYODAN - Mildred Gayle Carter Martin, 79, passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 3, 2022, at Cone Health Annie Penn Hospital in Reidsville, surrounded by her family.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. on Monday, February 7, at Beaver Island Baptist Church with burial to follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service (1 to 2 p.m.) at the church.

Mildred was born January 28, 1943 in Stokes County, NC. She was the daughter of the late William Fletcher Carter and Della Knight Carter. Mildred was a longtime member of Beaver Island Baptist Church. She worked at Cato's for several years. She was a member of the Beaver Island Homemaker's Club. Mildred loved to travel and loved her family. She never met a stranger.

In addition to her parents, Mildred was preceded in death by her husband, Larry B. Martin; brother, Jimmy Carter; and son-in-law, Robert Hill.

She is survived by her daughter, Lisa M. Hill of Mayodan; grandson, Bobby Hill of Mayodan; sister, Treva Etchison and husband, John of Maryland; and her nephew, Mark Carter.

Colonial Funeral Home & Chapel in Madison is serving this family.
