Mrs. Reaves was born in Raleigh, NC a daughter of the late Clyde Hoke Parker and Josephine Barefoot Parker. She was a graduate of Women's College (now UNC-Greensboro) and received her Master's Degree in Psychology from Francis Marion University. Jo Ann was a licensed practical counselor for the SC Department of Mental Health for 34 years retiring in 2019. She was a lifelong active member of John Calvin Presbyterian Church and a recent active member of the Presbyterian Community.
She had a gift of being fully present with the people she was with. She could work the room chatting and catching up. But when you were in a conversation with just her, you were the most important person in the room. She looked you in the eye and genuinely listened to you. She asked prompting questions and followed up about something you had told her months ago and just remembered everything about you. She was a good friend, and a wonderful mother and grandmother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and by her husband, George Grice Reaves, who passed away on July 30, 2012.
