Captain Sidney J. "Brother" Evans Jr. died peacefully on January 28, 2022 at the age of 85. He was born and raised in Carnarvon, LA and resided in Violet, LA.
He was the loving husband to the late Loretta Marie Treadaway Evans.
Proud father of Rodney Evans Sr. (Angela) and Sissy Yolanda Babin Bradshaw Ward (Greg).
Caring grandfather of Kaylee Evans, Ashley Barrow (Rocky), Aimee Robin (Dustin), Rodney Evans Jr. (Lacey) and Casey Bradshaw; 14 great grandchildren and 1 great great grandchild, Adeline Paige Crochet and many nieces and nephews.
Devoted brother of Wilkerson "Willie" Evans.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Sidney J. Evans Sr. and Olivia Cantrell Evans; his children, Sidney "Boe" Evans III, Terry Evans; his grandchildren, Sidney Evans IV, Anthony "Tony" Cacioppo III and Troy Cacioppo Sr.; his siblings, Clara Mae Gonzales, Ruth "Rudy" Diaz, Joycelyn Serigne, Milton "Tarzan" Evans and Vincent "Boe" Evans.
Sidney honorably served in the Navy for 3 years as a young man in the Korean War on the USS Salem. He came home to take care of his Family and later became a Merchant Marine Officer working on the water his entire life. He was a proud member and Past Master of the Masons and of the Knights of Columbus.
One of Sidney biggest accomplishments was being a devoted, kind, caring and loving husband and father to his beautiful wife and children. He proudly and honorably fought for his country and family his entire life. He will be missed by us all.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend a visitation to be held at St. Bernard Memorial Funeral Home, 701 W. Virtue St., Chalmette, LA on Saturday, February 12, 2022 from 9:00AM- 12:30PM. A funeral service will begin at 12:30PM. He will be laid to eternal rest with his beloved wife Loretta Evans at St. Bernard Memorial Garden.
