Robert Tyson

Robert (Bob) Raymond Tyson of Springfield, Missouri, formerly of Olathe, Kansas and Bella Vista, Arkansas, died February 2, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. Bob was born in Kansas City, Kansas on June 7, 1929 to Edward Tyson and Elizabeth Lobenstein Tyson. He was a 1947 graduate of Turner High School and married his high school sweetheart Virginia Boling in 1950.
Bob served two years in the Navy during the Korean War at Key West, Florida. In 1955 he joined the Kansas Highway Patrol and ultimately held the rank of Captain in the Kansas City office in charge of Johnson, Wyandotte, Leavenworth and Miami Counties, from 1973 until his retirement in 1980. Bob opened his locksmith business Lok-Pro in Olathe, Kansas and, after many years, sold it to move to their retirement home in Bella Vista, Arkansas. Bob and Virginia enjoyed many years in retirement traveling to south Texas every winter in their RV.

Bob was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Tyson and two siblings: Doris Allen and Juanita Hazlett. He is survived by his children: Candice Farmer (Gary) and Jeffrey Tyson (Kristin), grandchildren Jason Farmer (Candace), Matthew Tyson (Erin), Kristen Grisham (Ryan), Erin Person (Jon) and seven great-grandchildren. He is also survived by two siblings: John Tyson of Keller, Virginia and Margaret Ann Pickering of Stanfield, North Carolina.
Bob will be buried alongside his wife Virginia Tyson at the Edwardsville, Kansas cemetery. A graveside service will be scheduled at a later date.
