Clara L. Davis, 93, died Tuesday, April 24, 2001, at Heartland of Eaton after a long illness. She was born April l, 1908, in Terre Haute, Ind., to Anthony and Louise (Oberly) Prus and had lived in the Darke County area since 1988. A homemaker, she had worked at Dana Corp. in Richmond, Ind. during the war years. She was a member of St. John's Catholic Parish in New Paris and a former member of the New Madison Grange.

Survivors include two sons, Edward John Davis of Moline, Ill., and Paul M. Davis of Sarasota, Fla.; a daughter, Mary Louise Harter of New Madison; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; and six great-great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband, George, on Nov. 9, 1991; a son, George; two brothers; and three sisters.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. (Ohio time) Saturday at St. John's Catholic Church in New Paris. The Rev. J. Thomas Fitzsimmons has been asked to officiate. Burial will be in Springlawn Cemetery in New Paris. Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. (Ohio time) Friday at the Storch-Braund Funeral Home in New Madison.

Memorials maybe made to Hospice.

NOTE: Clara was born Elizabeth Grace Ruckenhouser, daughter of John C and Margaret Hart Ruckenhouser the youngest of six children. Her mother died in 1909 when she was 10 months old. She, her sister Ethel and their Father lived for a time with her Grandmother in Terre Haute, IN. It is not known what happened to her Grandmother but on 29 Apr 1915 she and Ethel were placed in St Anne's Orphan Home in Terre Haute, IN. Their Father went to Baltimore, Maryland for work. She was fostered 23 Nov 1915 to Anthony & Louisa Prus of Richmond, IN. Her Father died in Maryland on 14 Sep 1918 and she was then adopted on 29 Nov 1918 by the Prus' and her name changed to Clara Louise Prus. The Prus' did keep her in contact with her three surviving Siblings.
