Karen Ann Coburn (Eddins), age 79 from Austin, Texas passed away Sunday, September 2, 2018 at Brookdale Memory Care.

Karen was the most loving, caring, wife, mother, friend who just filled a room with positive energy. She married James Roberts in 1958 and had a son, Rodney Kent Roberts. Soon after James passed away. Karen and Rodney moved back to the farm in Esteline where Karen attended school at West Texas in Canyon, Texas.

Karen was set up on a blind date with Thomas Coburn, and on May 31, 1963 they married and had two other sons, Mark Wayne Coburn and Steven Dale Coburn. They eventually moved to Austin where Karen worked as a Secretary at Rosedale Elementary School and then later pursued a real estate career working for a few different agencies and retiring from Remax around 1998.

Karen loved to spend her weekends and free time with her two granddaughters especially after having a pool put in her back yard, so she could teach the girls how to swim. There were many family outings at Lake Austin and Lake Travis where skiing and picnicking were two of her favorite things. She was involved with the Garden Club in her neighborhood, and she sewed children's clothes with a group called The Threads of Love which sent these clothes to Africa. She attended the Northwest Hills United Methodist Church off Far West Blvd. in Austin, and she loved to sing songs and just be around people.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Thomas George Coburn, her parents Joe and Mary Ellen Eddins, her son Mark Wayne Coburn, and her brother Joe Kent Eddins.

Survivors are her son Rodney Kent Roberts Coburn and wife Simone of Salado, Texas; Son, Steven Dale Coburn of San Antonio, Texas; Sister, Donna Long and husband Noel Long of Childress, Texas; Granddaughters, Jamie Jo Sonen and her husband Joshua of Whitney, Texas; Jessica Coburn of Austin, Texas; Two great grandchildren, River Abigail Coburn of Austin, Texas and Jett Jaxon Sonen of Whitney, Texas.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 8, 2018 from 9:00 -10:00 AM at Beck Funeral Home in Pflugerville, Texas with services beginning at 10:00 AM in the Beck Chapel.

We would like to thank Brookdale Memory Care for the love and care that they gave Karen this last year. To see staff members cry makes us know that she was loved very much, and we knew she was well taken care of by their employees, nurses and doctors.
