David graduated from Iowa State University in 1979 and commissioned into the Marine Corps on August 16, 1979. He proudly served for 30 years and 6 months active service as an Infantry Officer. His duty stations included Kaneohe Bay HI, Quantico VA, Camp Pendleton CA, Ft Leavenworth KS, Newport RI, and Norfolk VA.

David and his family moved to the Omaha area in 2003, where he served as the Professor of Naval Science at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and obtained one of three masters degrees. He finished his career in the Marine Corps as the Battle Watch Commander at Offutt AFB.

After retirement in 2010, he completed back-to-back contracting jobs in Iraq and Afghanistan aiding in the war on terror.

He enjoyed many outdoor hobbies, cheering on the Nebraska football team, and spending quality time with his family. He is remembered as a dedicated father, extraordinary leader, and incredible friend.
