Dovie Jean McKinney, age 69, of Fayetteville. A funeral service will be held at 2 pm on Sunday, February 6, 2022, at Higgins Funeral Home with Bro. Thomas Smith officiating. Burial will follow in Barnes Cemetery. Visitation with the family will be from 11 am to 2 pm on Sunday at Higgins.
Dovie was born May 29, 1952, in Lincoln County, TN to the late Robert Lee and Sallie Campbell Holder. She was a 1970 graduate of Boonshill High School and received her associate degree in nursing from Regents College – The University of New York State. Dovie worked as a nurse with Donalson Care Center and Elk River Health & Rehab, and she was a member of Beech Grove United Methodist Church. She loved working in her flowers, sewing and cooking, and she loved animals especially her cat, Lucy. Dovie passed away February 3, 2022, at Huntsville Hospital.
Survivors include her husband, five children, 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. In addition to her parents, Dovie was preceded in death by her first husband, Jerry Meeks; brother, Danny Lee Holder; and sister, Doris Amelia Helton.
