This is our tribute to Bobby Jack Gilbert, born June 18, 1934, in Gilmer, Texas. He was a caring Christian son, brother, friend, husband, father and Poppy. After graduating from East Mountain High School, he earned a Petroleum Engineering degree from The University of Texas. He served 2 years in the US Army in Fort Lee, Virginia. He was industrious in all his efforts. He started his career with Getty Oil and became their youngest Area Superintendent. He worked for several oil companies all across the southeast US.

In 1973, he met and married Deborah Gail Ashford. They raised four wonderful daughters: Shannon (Trip) Rizzo, Jenny (Chris) Reaves, Stacey (Mark) Sheils, and Jill (Ricardo) Vita. He loved dearly his nine grandchildren: Annabelle, Rachel, Reece, Patrick, Finn, Lilly, Hudson, Joleigh, and Elly.

Bob was a very good golfer and enjoyed hunting, fishing, gardening, and dominoes with friends. He was a great story teller and loved telling his girls and grandkids about his many adventures. He was a Gideon and an active member of Salem Heights Baptist Church where he enjoyed Sunday School and Tuesday morning Bible Study.

He was proceeded in death by his father, Gordon Russell Gilbert, mother, Opal Venn Gilbert, brother George Benson Gilbert, and sister Lula Mae Glenn as well as nieces and nephews.

Our appreciation to the medical staff that cared for Bob, our church staff and friends for their love and support, and especially to our granddaughter Rachel for being there. Pall bearers are Trip Rizzo, Chris Reaves, Ricardo Vita, Mark Sheils, Reece Reaves, and Hudson Bryant. Honorary pall bearers include his Sunday School class and Tuesday morning Bible study class.
