Sarah Ellen Dickson (Townley), age 85, of Gulfport, MS passed away on Monday, January 31, 2022 at her residence.
Funeral services honoring her life will take place at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, February 9, 2022 at Schilling Funeral Home with Leonard Moore officiating. Private burial will be held at Dodge Grove Cemetery.
Sarah was born on May 9, 1936 in Gays, IL the daughter of Artemus Ward Sr. and Elsie Lilly (Mayo) Townley.
Survivors include her son, Duane L. (Amber) Moore; daughters, Elsie M. (Richard) Stewart and Rena L Rinker; grandchildren, Max J.L. Stewart, J. Cody Stewart, Benjamin Rinker, Jacob Rinker, and Dr. Amanda Mohler; brothers, David (Janice) Townley, Amos (Joyce) Townley; and sister, Georgeanna Moore. Sarah was preceded in death by her parents, Artemus Ward Sr. and Elsie Lilly (Mayo) Townley; siblings, Stephanie Hite, Harold Ben Townley, James Townley, Allen Townley, Artemus Townley, Ralph Townley, and Christine Minor; niece, Linda Turner; and two grandchildren, Nathaniel Moore and Crystal Rinker.
Sarah owned a ceramic shop in Tuscola for many years. She enjoyed bird watching, loved painting porcelain dolls, and had an interest in bonsai plants. She loved flowers and gardening of any kind. Sarah made stained glass art for many years. There was nothing she wouldn't try, and when she did, it would consume her. Sarah will be remembered as a loving and caring mother. She cherished her family and would do anything for them. Sarah's grandkids were everything to her. She will be greatly missed.
