Frederick Evans Goodwin of Norton MA, formerly of Sharon and Foxboro MA, passed away Tuesday December 15th, at the age of 82, or as he would say "old as dirt".

Fred is survived by his daughter Mandi Goodwin, her two daughters, Alice and Katy Johansen of Norton and by his son Sgt. Jonathan Goodwin, of the Norton Police Department, his wife Janey and their three daughters Jillany, Carly and Cecelia, of Norton. He is also survived by his big brother, Ret. Col. Willard C Goodwin of Bradenton FL, as well as many nieces and nephews, who he loved seeing when he could, and talking to them on the phone when he couldn't. He is preceded in death by his parents, Emily and Willard of Sharon, as well as his brothers George and Charles.

Fred enlisted in the Air Force and was Airman 2nd Class Organizational Specialist with the 6900th Security Wing, stationed in Frankfurt Germany for a good part of his service. He loved flying, had his student pilot's license, and read just about every book written from a pilot's point of view that he could find. When he returned home from the service, he worked with his brother Charlie as a carpenter and then worked for many years at Morse Shoe in Canton MA as a buyer and a personnel director. Later in life, he started and ran a successful business.

During this time, he discovered his true passion, playing golf. He played 5 or 6 days a week and joined the Men's League at Cedar Hill in Stoughton, MA. On Thursday's, he could be found at Town Spa, with his favorite bartender, Sarah, who always had the Boston Herald, a Seagram's & Pepsi and an extra crispy cheese pizza for him.

He loved spending time with family, for the last 18 years he lived in an apartment at his son's family's home, and a mile away from his daughter, so he could watch his granddaughters grow up and stay close with his kids. He loved a good game of cribbage and watching the sunset from the deck at Jon and Janey's home in New Hampshire. He will be greatly missed by many.

There will be no services or visiting hours, burial will be private.
