   Orville Ladue Gunderson was born June 15, 1920 to Oscar and Johanna (Bach) Gunderson in Chandler, Minnesota, Murray County. He was Baptized and Confirmed in the Lutheran faith in Lake Wilson and attended Country School and later the Chandler High School, graduating in 1939. As a young man Orville worked on the family farm near Chandler. In 1944 he enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Texas and later Korea. After his discharge in 1946 he returned to farming with his family. On March 8, 1950 Orville married Fern Grogan in Lake Wilson and they made their home on the farm formerly owned by his grandparents. The farm place became a Century Farm, something Ori was very proud of, and they farmed on this place till 1998 when they retired and moved into the Chandler Apartments. Orville died Monday, June 17, 2002 at Edgebrook Care Center in Edgerton, Minnesota at the age of 82. Ori was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Chandler, past member of the Trinity Lutheran Church Board, member of Chandler American Legion Post #338, and a past Chandler Co-op Board member. He enjoyed farming but also loved spending time with family and his many friends at the Senior Center playing pool.
        Orville is survived by his wife, Fern; one daughter, Laurel (Steve) Abraham of Sioux Falls, SD; one granddaughter, Gretchen Abraham, also of Sioux Falls; one brother, Gordon (Susie) Gunderson of Minneapolis, MN; two sisters-in-law, Sybil Grogan of Chandler, MN and Hermina Hall of Skandia, MN; two brothers-in-law, Bill Grogan of Edgerton, MN and Lyle Halsne of Cokato, MN; many nieces, nephews and cousins. His parents, one granddaughter, Heather Renae, one brother, Merlin and one sister, Elsie preceded him in death.


Trinity Cemetery is also known as Trinity Lutheran or Chandler Lutheran Cemetery.
