81 of Tuscarawas Township, passed away Monday, Oct. 13, 2014 at his residence the result of a brain tumor. Phil was born Jan. 3, 1933 in Greenville, Ohio, the son of the late William C. and Lucy F. (Toman) Cottrell. Phil lived in Michigan for 46 years and moved to Massillon in 1978. He owned Hydro Plex Chemical which blended and sold chemical water treatments. Phil was a member of The Gideons International for 40 years and Calvary Baptist Church. He enjoyed wood working, traveling and church presentations for the Gideons.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Rex and Owen Cottrell. He is survived by his wife, Naomi R. (Evans) Cottrell whom he shared 34 years of marriage; his children and their spouses, Susan K. (Jerry) Bailey, Debra J. Cottrell, Tomas P. (Kathie) Cottrell, Joseph P. Cottrell; his stepsons, David B. (Ellie) Evans, and Timothy G. (Vicki) Evans; 15 grandchildren; 26 great grandchildren; and two great-great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Oct. 16, 2014 at 1:30 p.m. at the Paquelet & Arnold-Lynch Funeral Home. His pastor, Rev. Tim Mishler will be officiating. Burial will follow at Newman Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home TONIGHT from 6-8 p.m. and from 12:30-1:30 p.m. Thursday.
