Rev. Jenkins, 84, died peacefully, at home, Thursday, February 3, 2022, following a long illness. He was born in Benton, Mississippi, and grew up in a large farming family in Yazoo County. At the age of 21, he was born again. (John 3:7) He entered study for the ministry in June 1960 and was ordained as a Methodist Protestant minister June 27, 1964. With the help and support of his wife, Reverend Maxine J. Jenkins, he pastored several church congregations in Mississippi and Louisiana. Through his many years of ministry, he enjoyed a large and loving church family in addition to his numerous friends and relatives. He entertained everyone who knew him with his quick wit and good humor. He enjoyed singing, traveling (including two church mission trips to Belize) and gardening. He was a hard worker, a kind soul, a family man to his core and, above all, a man of God.
