Interment will follow in Jesus Christ Worship Center Cemetery, Cravens, under the direction of Rush Funeral Home, Oakdale.
Mrs. Chapman, 65, of Marshall, Texas entered eternal rest on Wednesday, February 2, 2022, in her residence.
Mary gave a part of herself to everyone she encountered, by being completely vocal with both her opinion and point of view. Like a prize fighter, she never pulled any punches, and someone always knew where they stood with her at all times from her honest and forthright nature. Mary loved fun, was devoted, compassionate and so loving. Having a deep love for those close to her, like a mother grizzly, she was ever ready to defend and protect her loved ones without thought or hesitation.
Mary and Doug, were devoted to each other completely, and the bonds of their love grew stronger as the years passed, and it was the strength of that shared loved which stretched out to others in the family and encompassed each one openly without reservation or favoritism. This love they created, protected, nurtured, and cherished shall live on through the ages. Mary Chapman cannot be described with words, she was unique in so many special ways, that to attempt to describe her humor, her laughter, or anything about her nature would never do her true justice. Of Mary, I can only say that she is loved and will continue to be loved, and the love so many have for her will only be rivaled by missing all that we knew about her. Mary will surely be missed by so many, but we can take comfort in knowing she is resting in the arms of Jesus and the time she spent suffering is gone, and she will be waiting when we are at last called home with her. God is faithful to complete the work He begins and though we may not see His purpose in all things right away, His plan will one day be revealed in all of us. May Mary rest in peace with God, her wonderful and amazing journey at last is over. May God grant peace to those who love her because she took a piece of each of us home with her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Jessie Perkins and Inez Sparrow; her stepfather, LC Sparrow; one brother, Howard Jessie Perkins; and one sister, Connie Lynn Sparrow.
Those left to mourn her loss and cherish her memory include her loving husband of forty-eight years, Doug Chapman, of Marshall, Texas; one son, Shannon Chapman, and his wife, Crystal, of Carthage, Texas; two daughters, Susan Morris, and her husband, Stanley, of Shreveport and Jennifer Youngblood, and her significant other, Jonathan, of Elysian Fields, Texas; two brothers, Joseph Sparrow, and his wife, Jeanette, of Bowie, Texas and Jessie "Buddy" Perkins, of McAlester, Oklahoma; five sisters, Linda Nugent, and her husband, Robert, of Elysian Fields, Texas, Myrtle Pelt, of Cravens, Edith Taylor, of Lovington, New Mexico, Debbie Arcidez, of Lovington, New Mexico and Nancy Hobbs, of Axle, Texas; eleven grandchildren; and two great grandchildren.
A time of visitation will be held at Jesus Christ Worship Center, Cravens, on Monday, February 7, 2022, at 10:00 a.m. until time of the service.
