After graduating from Albany State, he was employed with the Clay County Board of Education as a Teacher. After graduating Indiana University in 1970, he returned to Georgia and took a position with Fort Valley State College as Professor of Early Childhood Education, beginning a 25 year stint until his retirement. He was Director of the Lyceum Committee and department head of FVSU School of Education. He was a member, advisor and benefactor of the Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
He was a member of Bethel CME Church in Leary, Georgia. Upon moving to Fort Valley, Georgia he joined the Usher's Temple CME Church. Green was Ordained a Minister and licensed to preach in the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church Annual Conference thru Usher's Temple CME Church in Fort Valley, Georgia. He later Pastored Churches in Eastman, Georgia; Toccoa, Georgia; Montezuma, Georgia; Atlanta, Georgia; Warner Robins, Georgia and his home Church, Usher's Temple CME Church in Fort Valley, Georgia.
While working in Clay County, Georgia he met and married Estella Elaine Wallace Green on December 28, 1958, they were together for 62 years. He was preceded in death by 1 daughter, Aundrea Green, 1 sister, Martha Green and 3 brothers, Charlie James Green, Charlie Will Green and Charlie James Green.

2 Sons: Raphael Green(Kimberly) and Robert Wesley Green Jr.
1 Sister: Mary Oliver.
2 Sisters-In-Law: Anna Grazette and Annie Ruth Wallace.
3 Brothers-In-Law: James Wallace(Joan), Alexander Wallace(Joyce) and Lisbon Littleton.
4 Grandchildren: Milo Green, Eli Green, Zuri Green and Robert Green III.
