Stanley Darrell Jones was released from his mortal journey on January 29th to return to his Heavenly Home where he was happily greeted by many family members. Stan was born in Ogden, Utah on August 31st,1935 to Elva Rosdahl, a city girl and Byron Jones, a farm boy. The family including Gloria, born in 1938, lived about five years in the mountainous town of Eden, Utah in a small, drafty, wood plank home. Next, they lived several years in Washington Terrace at J9 Army Way. Their permanent home was then located in Ogden's "Shupe Addition" near 7th Street and Wall Ave.

Schooling began at the old Lincoln Elementary at Five Points, then at the old Mound Fort on 12th and Washington Blvd. Next on to Ogden High until Ben Lomond was built. Halfway through his 12th grade Stan thought it would be a good idea to join the Air Force along with some of his school buddies. And it was. After 21 days at sea, he was stationed in Korea where he served his country. Stan loved old cars. He developed a knack for repairing them. Sometimes, he would race his friends along Wall Ave. He and Susan dated in his 1937 Plymouth and on the seat of his slick Triumph Tiger Cub motorcycle. Stan had a fascination for both caves and mines. He explored both when opportunity arose. He loved playing his 'Martin' acoustic guitar and repairing his many guitars. He was part of a 'Jam' session for many years, where he and friends would gather together and make music.

Stan and Susan raised their children in the Ogden area. Sons David and Matthew have fun memories of going with their dad to the Newfoundland Mountains of Utah's West Desert. Their dad always managed to squeeze in his motorized minibike into the Volkswagen Bus along with them and all there camping gear for their great adventures of exploration. Daughter, Melanie was inspired by her dad's love of music and guitars and she, too learned how to play guitars and now enjoys owning her dad's valued 'Martin' to play as often as she likes. Nathan acquired his skills at bike repairs, by following his dad's lead. It has been a joy in his life. He is much like his dad.

There was always room in Stan's home and in his heart for animals. They often wanted to be on his lap or by his side.

Stan's favorite place to be was home. He loved his family, a full belly and lots of sweet of any kind. He also enjoyed attending church and fulfilled his responsibilities there. Also, he loved going to the Temple. He had a kind and gentle spirit.

As a dedicated provider for his family, he worked at the Ogden Mail Terminal, by the Union Station, then for 30 years at Hill Air Force Base, often as a forklift driver. He was a dependable and capable employee.

Stan and Susan have 11 grandchildren and 20, soon to be 22, great grandchildren.
Surviving are his wife of 59 years; daughter Melanie ( Tim), sons, David ( Staci ), Matthew, and Nathan. His sister Gloria died just 8 weeks ago.

The family feels much gratitude to the George E. Wahlen Ogden Veterans Home, for the many kind hearts and tender hands that cared for Stan and for his many needs.

Services are through "Premier" of Roy, Utah.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 pm, Saturday, February 5th, 2022 at the Paradise Acres Ward, 236 Porter Avenue, Ogden with a viewing to begin at 11:30 am. Interment to follow at Ogden City Cemetery.
