Dorothy Mae Brown, age 94, of Early, passed from this life on Friday, January 28, 2022, at her home in Early surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on July 7, 1927, in Junction, Texas, the daughter of Calvin Peel and Lovey Dolly (Matson) Peel.

She married Fred Brown in Junction on July 15, 1942.

She worked with her husband in the office at Brown Roofing and later worked doing office work with her daughter in home care.

She had been a resident of Early since 1970 moving from Fort Worth.

She was of the Pentecostal faith.

Her hobbies included sewing, quilting, embroidery, and gardening. She made many of her children's clothes and later made doll clothes for the dolls she collected. She loved to make baby quilts as well.

She had a very loving and jolly spirit and loved her family.

She is survived by two daughters, Gale Brown Garrett and husband Gary of Early and Jan Brown also of Early, a son, James Brown of Early, fourteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. A sister, Helen Wilks of Fort Worth also survives.

She was preceded in death by her husband, two sons, Fred Brown, Jr. and Glenn Brown, a daughter, Johnye and several brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2:30 pm on Friday, February 4, 2022, in the Davis-Morris Chapel of Heritage Funeral Home of Brownwood with burial to follow in the Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6 - 8 at the funeral home.
