On the evening of Tuesday, February 1, 2022, Charlotte Elaine Smith Wright passed away at Mission McDowell. A native of McDowell County, Charlotte was born on October 16, 1938 to the late Clarence and Virginia Wiseman Smith.

She is preceded in death by her great-grandson, Rhylee James Woody and one brother, Van Harold Smith.

Charlotte was a member of Refuge Baptist Church where she formally served as a treasurer and Sunday school teacher. She loved cooking and baking and spending time with her family especially her great-grandchildren. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and will be missed greatly.

She is survived by her husband of sixty-two years, Frank Lee Wright; one daughter, Tammy Woody (Mike); two sisters, Linda Stevens (John), Frances James (Roger); two brothers, CW Smith (Jeannie) and Eddie Smith (Annette). Also surviving Charlotte are two grandchildren, Kristin Norwood (Nathaniel), Tayler Rose (Robbie); five great-grandchildren, Jackson Conner, Mason Conner, Emmerson Norwood, Emmalee Van Es and Graysen Rose.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Beam Funeral Service with Reverend Ronnie Gentry officiating. The family will receive friends from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will take place on Monday, February 7, 2022 at 2:00 p.m. at the Western Carolina State Veterans Cemetery.
