Having lived a full life, James M. Sharp Jr., left his earthly home of 91 years on Thursday, January 27th, 2022. James was born in Cushing, Oklahoma on December 6, 1930, to James M. Sharp and Adeline (Fisher) Sharp. After graduating from Cushing H.S., James attended Oklahoma State University where he pledged Sigma Alpha Epsilon fraternity and became a member of the United States Army Air Corp ROTC. Upon graduation, he earned his degree in Business Administration and his commission in the U.S. Air Force as a 1st LT. While attending Oklahoma State he met Constance A. Odom. They married a short time later and would have celebrated 70 years of marriage this February. This union of love produced three children Anne, James, and Julia.

Hoping to realize his dream of seeing the world he was deflated to receive his first assignment at Tinker AFB a mere 70 miles from his hometown of Cushing. All was made better when he was reassigned to Ann Arbor, Michigan and attended the University of Michigan, earning his master's degree in business administration.

He served our country for 28 years and would still be serving today if not for mandatory retirement at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel in 1980. He served at the following bases: Tinker AFB, Oklahoma; Ann Arbor, Michigan; Thule AFB, Greenland; Toul-Rosieres AFB, France; Sheppard AFB- Wichita Falls, Texas; Maxwell AFB- Montgomery, Alabama; Bangkok, Thailand; Columbus AFB, Mississippi; South Korea; and Vance AFB, Enid, Oklahoma. The assignment that he was most proud of was being selected to attend the Air War College at Maxwell AFB in Montgomery, Alabama. Upon retirement, he became a servant leader for Christ through the First Christian Church of Midwest City. James enjoyed meeting new people and recognizing old friends. His favorite pastime was walking his dogs along the greenbelt of the neighborhood, while admiring the array of wildlife and playing the organ.
