HAYNESVILLE, LA- Betty Lewis Phillips was born in Haynesville, LA on January 7, 1933 to H.B. and Esther Lewis. She passed away on January 31, 2022, after a lengthy illness.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, February 5, 2022, at the Bailey Funeral Home Chapel in Haynesville, LA with Reverend Wayne Chambers officiating. Interment will be in the Ware's Chapel Cemetery, under the direction of Bailey Funeral Home of Haynesville, LA

Visitation will Saturday, February 5, 2022, 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

At 17 years old, Betty married the love of her life, Charles (Bud) Phillips on October 5, 1950. Being a good student, her principal allowed her to finish her Senior year and suggested she rearrange her schedule so that she could go home early and prepare dinner for her new husband. After her graduation, Bud joined the Air Force and was stationed in San Antonio, TX and then Great Falls, Montana where their two daughters, Patty and Esther, were born.

After serving in the military, the family moved back to Haynesville and built their lifelong home just a short distance from her parent's dairy farm. Here, their son, Jeff, was born. Betty was a great wife, mother, cook, and "Aunt Betty " to many people through the years who loved her. Her goal in life was to keep everyone happy and fed! Coffee and a dessert was always ready for anyone who might drop by. Her son-in-law, Mark, told everyone to just say yes when she offered you something to eat because she would keep asking until you gave in. Betty especially loved being a grandmother. The grandchildren loved visiting Papaw Bud and Memaw Betty, but not as much as she loved having them with her.

Betty was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Bud, her brother Bryant and sister-in- law, Heloise Lewis.

Those family members left to carry on her memory are her brother, Bob Lewis (Betty), and her children, Patty (Mark) Garrett, Esther (Greg) Daily, and Jeff and her special daughter-in-law, Angie Phillips, her grandchildren, Summer (J.J.) Bennett, Christopher (Tyhler) Garrett, Jerrod Phillips (fiancé Ashley Angstadt), Trevor Talbert, and Reed Phillips, her great grandsons, Ashton and Mason Bennett and Dyson and Logan Garrett, and great granddaughters, Mila and Claire Talbert.

Pallbearers are the grandsons, son-in-law, Greg Daily, and nephew, Grant Lewis.

The family would like to thank Ms. Josie Tell and Ms. Jessie May Manning for the love and care you gave our mom at her home and the nurses and staff at Heritage Manor for continuing that loving care.
