Joe was born on August 17, 1935 in Live Oak, FL to the late James Mac Brown and Nita Boatwright Brown. He is preceded in death by his beloved wife, Betty Sue Weems Brown, his brother James Brown and sister Juanita Brown. He is survived by his daughters Katherine (Kitty) (Peter) Stevens and Kimberly Jo (David) Landsbergen, granddaughters Lt Sarah Howard and Rachel Howard, sisters Rose Rennau, Susan Bannon, Joanie Pradella, Jeanette Edwards, and sister-in-law Lois Brown. Joe was loved and supported in life by many nieces, nephews, and family members.
Joe Brown had many careers: U.S. Army Colonel, postman, tile craftsman, farmer, and volunteer, but above all was a family man. Joe served his country for 23 years in the U.S. Army, supported by his wife Betty Sue. His Army career took him around the world: Giessen, Germany in the early 60's during the Cold War, two combat tours in VietNam, a foreign area officer in Mexico City, Mexico, and many domestic posts before and after that. He retired in 1981 and he and his family moved to Clarksville, where he resided the rest of his life. Joe lived the volunteer spirit, always helping others, delivering meals, and donating gallons of blood and vegetables from his garden. He will be remembered and missed by many.
