On October 15, 1956, Sergeant Milton H. "Bud" Jones, DSN 1064, received his commission and was appointed to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department. Upon completion of the academy, he served in the following districts and specialized divisions throughout his career. They were the Bureau of Investigation, 4th, 3rd, and the Juvenile Division. He was promoted to the command rank of Sergeant on April 11, 1980 and was subsequently sent to the 3rd District as a "Line Platoon Supervisor." His other assignments included the Juvenile Division and finally the 3rd District. During his career, he was the recipient of one Exceptional Performance of Duty Award on December 1st, 1971, and one Chief Letter of Commendation on March 1st, 1963. Both of these awards were for police work above and beyond the call of duty. Sergeant Jones retired on September 12, 1987, having served a total of 30.91 years of faithful and dedicated service to the Saint Louis Metropolitan Police Department.

Of note, his son Philip Jones, DSN 1064, followed his father into the field of law enforcement and worked as a civilian for the Saint Louis County Police Department in the "Problem Properties Section," and his grandson Zachery Jones, DSN 12183, currently serves as a Saint Louis Police Officer.

Sergeant Milton H. Jones was a veteran of the United States Navy and was a BM-3 (Boatswain's Mate), which is an E-4. He served during the Korean War.

Beloved husband of the late Elsa L. (nee Welch) Jones; devoted father of David (Michele), Julie, and Philip (Dee) Jones; treasured grandfather of David, Abigail, Zachery, Jacob, Baithong, Baithuree, Henry, Alex, and Tate.Our dearest brother, brother-in-law, uncle and friend to many.

His parents, Mr. and Mrs. William L. and Pearl B. (nee Anderson) Jones, predeceased him.
