Viola Marie Reeve was the oldest daughter of Orval Lewis "Pete" Reeve and Osa Alva Demorest. Her family moved to southeastern Kansas when she was an infant, and she was raised on a farm near Thayer, Kansas. She graduated high school from Enterprise Academy in Enterprise, Kansas. Following graduation, Vi earned a teaching certificate and taught school in Kansas until her marriage in 1947. Viola married Harley G. Witt on 2 Nov. 1947 at the house of Harley's parents in Bay City, Tillamook County, Oregon. Harley had attended school with Viola, and they reconnected when Harley visited his relatives following his discharge from the service. In the mid-1950s, Viola and Harley moved to Riddle in Douglas County, Oregon, where they resided until their retirements. Viola worked many years as a physician's assistant in Riddle. Viola died in a car collision near Tenmile, Oregon, on 3 February 2002, after returning from a weekend of bingo, one of her favorite past times. Viola was a wonderful mother to six children. She was an exceptional grandmother and built many fabulous memories with them by taking them on annual spring-break trips to the Oregon coast.
