Woody was born on June 18, 1918, in Elmira, Ontario, to Edwin Herbert and
Louisa (Binkle) Dotzert. He enlisted for World War II in June 1940 with the
Highland Light Fusiliers (HLI) in Galt. During basic training, it was determined
that he was physically unable to perform prolonged military maneuvers, so he
was presented with the Volunteer Service Medal and released in July 1940.
Woody married Kathleen (Yendt) and they raised two girls, Shirley and Linda.
He retired from Waterloo County Board of Education after 35 years of service,
and was also involved with coaching Y.B.C. Youth Bowling and C.N.I. Blind
Bowlers. He was a fifteen-year member of The Royal Canadian Legion Waterloo
Branch 530. Woodrow passed away on May 15, 1999, at the K-W Health Centre
of Grand River Hospital. He was laid to rest at the Mount Hope Cemetery in
Waterloo City, Ontario.
