Loring L. "Tim" Tonkin passed away on February 12, 2018 after a brief illness. Tim was born on August 9, 1946 and was the eldest son of the late John B. and Nancy S. Tonkin. Tim's brother John B. Tonkin Jr. and sister Nancy S. Tonkin also preceded him in death.
Tim was a graduate of Randolph Macon Academy and served with and was honorably discharged from the United States Air Force with the rank of Staff Sergeant. Tim also graduated from Fairmont State University with a degree in Business.
Tim retired as Senior Landman at Cabot Oil and Gas Corporation. He worked for Cabot's Land Department for 30 years, where he managed and worked in the States of WV, PA, NY, OH, VA, and KY, overseeing the development of thousands of oil and or gas wells and numerous prospects. Tim was a great Leader and Mentor to those who worked with him.
Tim was a member of the American Association of Professional Landmen (AAPL) and a member of the Michael Late Benedum Chapter of the AAPL, where he served many years on the Executive Board.
Tim is survived by his wife, his daughter and grandchildren, son and granddaughter, nephew and step-mother. Also surviving are his Mother-in-Law , 3 brothers and sisters-in-law, 5 nephews , 3 nieces, 4 great-nephews and a great-niece.
Tim loved the outdoors especially when the trout were hitting his flies in the mountains of Randolph County. Deer hunting was his second passion followed by gardening and golf. His heart however was with his family and grandchildren upon whom he left an incredible mark. He loved them dearly!

Family and friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home 329 E. Main Street Clarksburg, WV on Friday, February 16, 2018 from 5 until 8pm. Funeral services will be held at Christ Episcopal Church (Sixth and Main Streets) Clarksburg, WV on Saturday, February 17, 2018 at 11am with Rev. Nora Becker presiding. Interment will follow at the Bridgeport Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial donations to Christ Episcopal Church Special Projects for the Needy in the Community (PO Box 1492 Clarksburg, WV 26302).
