Our beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed into eternity on January 27, 2022 due to complications from a skull fracture injury just 9 days before. He was born October 19th, 1927 to Austin Jabez Spencer, and Hannah Elizabeth Price Spencer of Aurora, Sevier County, Utah. He was raised on a sugar beet farm, and learned the value of hard work by herding and milking cows, raising crops, feeding the animals, and scores of other responsibilities from sun-up until sundown, 24/7.
After graduating high school in Salina, UT he enrolled in the U.S. Airforce in 1946 with the goal of becoming a pilot. He loved to fly! In the military, he repaired airplanes and eventually became crew chief of a Mitchell B-25 bomber. His aspiration to become a pilot was crushed when his father claimed "hardship" at home on the farm and requested his son to return home.
Quinn had an amazing singing voice and loved to sing and dance. He was asked many times to sing at funerals, weddings, parties, many barbershop groups, soloing in school plays, and other church functions. He was an expert archer, winning a third place in a U.S. men's open bow championship in 1967. He had a love of the outdoors and taught his boys to fish, hunt big game, & butcher and process meat.
He met and married Geneal Winn from McGill, NV on November 19th, 1951 after meeting and courting her in Sigurd, UT. They were sealed in the Manti, UT temple and raised 4 children in Ruth, Nevada. Quinn's life work included body and fender repair, and later he worked as a heavy diesel mechanic for Kennecott (36 years), where he received many awards from supervisors. He was a very skilled craftsman and enjoyed building and repairing everything. His electrical and hydraulic troubleshooting skills were second to none. He was widely sought for his knowledge in troubleshooting and fixing problems no one else could solve. When the mine reduced manpower in 1986, he was laid off and went to work as a building maintenance technician for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints for another 10 years, before retiring.
It seems his life motto was "never pay a dollar for anything you can do yourself." As such, he never requested the service of any outside contractor or repairman in his home, until his later life. He lived a life of compassionate service to others, and helped many people, at great sacrifice to his family's own comforts and convenience.
Quinn was called to run a church farm for 18 months in Junction, UT, and later served as a counselor in his ward bishopric for 11 years. He and his wife, Geneal served 11 years as an ordinance workers in the Jordan River Temple, and as missionaries in the Murray Cannery for 2 years.
His first wife passed away on Feb 28, 2008. On May 17, 2008 he married Sharon, whom he had met years before in the Jordan River temple when he serving as an ordinance worker, and she in the baptistery. They re-met on April 22, 2008 and married 25 days later. He sang to her at their wedding ceremony and moved into her home. Their marriage was ideal, as they were always together without a single argument, and were deeply in love. Quinn and Sharon served together in the Draper temple baptistery for 10 years, and they served an 18 month mission at the church Employment Center in Sandy, UT and most recently as baptism clothing coordinators in their stake.
He is survived by his wife Sharon, his four children. He has 7 wonderful bonus children, with 36 grand-children, and 38 great grand-children. All are loved by him, and all will dearly miss him.
