Mary Jean Huntley was the daughter of the late Undell Cooper of Southaven, MS; and the late Carrie Mae Brown of Lexington, MS. She was born January 22, 1957, in Lexington, MS; and transitioned to be with the Lord on January 28, 2022.
Mary Jean Huntley, "Jean", was married on June 25, 1977, to George Huntley, Sr., and to that union were born four strong boys, George (Deidre) Huntley. Jr., Smithville, MS; James (Tiffany) Huntley, Ridgeland, MS; Derrick (Cassie) Huntley, Durant, MS; Jeremy (Monica) Huntley, Durant, MS. Jean was blessed with 8 beautiful grandchildren, "Granny Babies", Decourius Garth, Tamera Garth, Monica Huntley, Derrick V. Huntley, Jamie Huntley, Rosalyn Huntley, Jace Huntley, and Colton Huntley.
Jean's education included the following, Lexington Attendance Center class of 1975 and received credits at Holmes Community College majoring in Elementary Education.
After moving back from Louisiana, Jean was a substitute teacher for Holmes County School District. Jean later became a Crossing Guard for Durant Municipal School District. Jean loved greeting the children and keeping them safe, going and coming from school. While serving as a Crossing Guard, Jean was injured which caused her to become unable to work. Jean also served as a Polling Manager for Durant, Holmes County. MS. Jean loved meeting and greeting people.
Jean had one sister to precede her in death, Rosie Brown, and she leaves to mourn, her sisters, Wilma Brown, Iris Brown, and two brothers, George Howard and Ernest Sullivan, and two aunts, Eva Powell and Ella Mae Smith. She is also survived by several special cousins. In addition, Jean also leaves to mourn a best friend, Marilyn Levy, a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
