KENNETH GENE TURNER
August 9, 1940 - January 29, 2022

Kenneth Gene Turner was born August 9, 1940 to Lloyd D. and Elnora (Hickman) turner of Stockton. Kenneth passed away on January 29, 2022 at the age of 81. He was preceded in death by his parents, Lloyd and Elnora, and his wife Denzial. Kenneth is survived by his two sons, Scott Kevin Turner and his wife Denise of Springfield and their children Ben Turner and Rachel Harrington and husband Ryan and great-grandson Everett of Nixa, MO....and Kenneth Jeffry Turner and his wife Greta of Wentzville, MO. and their children Lauren Kelch and her husband Connor of Springfield and Hannah and Mark Turner, also of Wentzville, MO.

Kenneth grew up and spent most of his life in Stockton, MO. area. After High School, Kenneth married Denziel Wallen on Christmas Eve, 1958, and they spent 58 wonderful years together enjoying each other's company and sharing a lifetime of love of laughter. To this union was blessed two children, Scott Kevin and Kenneth Jeffry.

Kenneth was saved at Alder Church, near Stockton at an early age. He loved the Lord and was an ordained Baptist Minister. He pastored at Forest Home and Oak Grove Missionary Baptist Churches in Cedar County. If you were blessed to hear him preach, his sermons were always spirit-filled and in true Baptist fashion, could get a little...loud...at times. But that just made sure you were paying attention. He had a passion for studying God's Word and spent countless hours reading and studying the Bible. He never seemed to get enough of it and always enjoyed talking about the Bible with anyone.

While residing in Stockton, Kenneth worked for many years in Springfield, MO. initially at Hiland Dairy and then for the remainder of his career at Mid-America Dairymen as the Director of Distribution from which he retired in 2000. During this time, he traveled thousands of miles back and forth from Stockton to Springfield. After retiring from Mid-AM, he started American National Insurance Agency and KenMax Promotional advertising business in Stockton to stay busy while his wife, Denzial, worked for Cedar County until her retirement in 2010.

From 2010 to 2017, Kenneth and Denzial enjoyed their retirement time together. In mid-2014, Denzial was diagnosed with Dementia/Alzheimer's and Kenneth poured everything he had into caring for her needs until she passed on Feb. 1, 2017. In August of 2019, Kenneth moved from Stockton to Springfield to be closer to his eldest son, Scott Kevin. Over the next two years, Kenneth's health deteriorated quickly to the point he could not care for himself and moved into a senior care facility where he remained through his last days.

Kenneth loved his family and particularly enjoyed spending time observing nature and animals. he marveled at how all of creation was so perfectly made by the hand of God. He was a man of good character -- a man of his word. If he said he was going to do it, he did it. If he said he would be there at a certain time, he was there at least 5 minutes early, if not more. He treated others with great care and kindness. When he spoke, he was careful to choose his words wisely and act in a way that would bring glory to God.

As a father, he loved his two boys and spent as much time as he could with them showing them right from wrong and how to take care of their family. As a grandfather, he cherished each of his grandchildren and spent time giving tractor rides in the yard or scooter rides around town or just eating ice cream. He loved humor. If you knew him, you know he loved to laugh and make other people laugh. And he loved to tease, but it was always a good-natured tease; never diminishing or degrading. And nothing was more fun than making him laugh "till he could hardly catch his breath.

He was always a source of calm during storms, wisdom in times of doubt, strength in times of trouble and encouragement in times of despair. His advice was always reliable; his guidance gentle and his voice always one spoken in love.

How do you sum up a man's life or describe the significance of that person's impact on you and your family? In addition to being a loving husband; a caring father/grandfather and a faithful friend to those who knew him, the thing that will be remembered most about him is: he tried to reflect Christ in everything he did, whether it was in his job, his family or his relationship with others. Those of you that really knew him could see there was something "different" about him. He was not a perfect man, but he strived to humbly serve God and be a role model to his family of what a Christian man should be. There's no doubt that by now he's already heard, "Well done, thou good and faithful servant". Kenneth Gene Turner was a life well-lived and will be missed by all who knew him

Graveside services are February 9th at 10:00 a.m. in the Stockton Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Lake Stockton Nursing Home.
