He was born August 26, 1933 in Liberty, KY, the son of Ezra F. and Ruth (Witt) Ashley.
He married Rose Ellen (Brewer) Ashley on January 2, 1953 and she preceded him in death.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and member of the Orleans American Legion Post 69. He was a member of the First Baptist Church. He worked at Carpenter's body Works for 35 years and enjoyed farming. He was a handyman for the Orleans area.
He is survived by one son, Jerry Ashley of Orleans; one daughter, Linda Combs (Tim Noble) of Bedford; five grandchildren, Jeremy, Cory, Cody, Bill and Tiffany; seven great grandchildren; two brothers, Gerald and Robert Ashley; three sisters, Joaline Collier, Pauline Wilson and Theda Reel.
He was preceded in death by his wife; parents and one brother, Harold.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, February 8, 2018 at the Ochs-Tetrick Funeral Home in Orleans with Pastor Steve Jones officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Orleans with military rites conducted by the Orleans American Legion Post #69.
Friends are invited to visitation at the funeral home on Wednesday from 4:00 until 8:00.
